A day of festivities in Trinidad, CO to raise funds for The Fox West Theatre and Fishers Peak State Park initiatives was held on September 26, 2021. The first annual Trails to Trinidad event brought together people from across the region with members of the Trinidad community to raise funds and awareness for the arts and the environment. Credit goes to the Trust for Public Land and its role in creating Fishers Peak, Colorado’s newest State Park, and the Alliance for the preservation of the 1908 historic Fox West Theatre.
Temple Aaron located at 407 S. Maple Street, provided tours and breakfast followed by a free public gathering at the Miner’s Museum Courtyard with food carts, merchandise from local vendors, live music, Trinidad’s own Art Cars and activities for the kids.
The Telethon from 5 - 8pm was broadcast from Upswing Gallery and featured musical acts and entertainment. The emcees for the telethon were ,Jay Gillespie, current host of Trinidad’s Cougar Nights and Rachael O’Brien. It was streamed live on Fox West Theatre’s Facebook page and YouTube channel with a watch party held at the TriniDAD Lounge and in private homes up and down the Front Range and around the country.
Online Auction
The online auction was a big success. An auction committee pulled together spectacular items ranging from stays at historic properties in the French Quarter of New Orleans to the Zapata Ranch in Colorado; a chauffeured evening out on the town in Trinidad in a 1931 Model T Ford and art - all kinds of different art for every taste and collection.
Proceeds raised from the Telethon and online auction went to benefit Fishers Peak State Park initiatives and historic 1908 Fox West Theatre rehabilitation efforts.
