Construction is Underway!
Last spring marked the start of the rehabilitation of the Fox West Theatre. Phase 1 of the project addresses four key areas essential to the overall rehabilitation: hazardous materials abatement; the reactivation of the retail storefronts; the completion of exterior stabilization and façade restoration; and the base infrastructure for fire protection and electrical service systems throughout the six-story building.
Originally occupied by a saloon on the west and the Hausman Brothers’ Drug Store on the east, the storefront façades will be restored to their original design while breathing new life into the commercial Main Street. Opening this summer, the eastern storefront of the Theatre will be home to the Trinidad Tea Company, owned and operated by a talented local couple, Christa Russell and Todd Franks.
Support the rehabilitation of the Fox West Theatre:
Project Background
The City of Trinidad bought the 1908 Fox West Theatre in 2018. In partnership with Urban Neighborhoods, helmed by Dana Crawford, and the Fox West Theatre Alliance, the Theatre is being transformed into a mixed-use facility to serve as the community's cultural and social hub.
We are thrilled to have raised over $5.5 million to get this project off the ground. However, the rehabilitation of the Theatre and an annex addition has a $25 million price tag. We have a long way to go. With your help, we will make it happen.

Save a Seat for $100!
One way to support the effort is to participate in our "Save a Seat" campaign. As of today, we have reserved the back two rows of the balcony seats for $100 each! Commemorate a loved one, honor a family or organization with a seat that will carry on their unique legacy. Each sponsored seat will be adorned with a personalized plaque with text of your choice. Your support will directly contribute to essential rehabilitation work and will be a visible part of the historic Theatre’s exciting future. See the seat map, pricing and more details, here.
